Texas Instruments Ships Over 24 Million DSL Ports in 2003, Tripling Annual Shipments Growth Rate
Posted on: Wednesday, 24 March 2004, 06:00 CST
DALLAS, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) shipped more than 24 million DSL ports in 2003, and has now shipped over 40 million DSL ports to date. TI's DSL momentum is driven by the rapid customer adoption of the AR7 DSL modem-on-a-chip, along with growing customer momentum in Asia. System developers around the world are using TI's DSL chipsets to deliver the highest performing, most interoperable and cost- effective DSL customer premises (CPE) and central office (CO) products.
TI's broadband portfolio also includes complete silicon and software solutions for cable modem, wireless local area networking (WLAN) and voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), enabling TI to provide system manufacturers solutions with integrated broadband functionality, such as the recently introduced AR7W. The AR7W is an ADSL modem with 802.11 b/g-based, affordable home networking and is already in retail products being sold today. The AR7W delivers the DSL performance that consumers need for high-bandwidth broadband content and applications, such as video and gaming, from anywhere in the home.
