Unimax Unveils 2nd Nature Software for Cisco Call Manager and Unity Systems

Posted on: Wednesday, 3 March 2004, 06:00 CST

ORLANDO, Fla., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Unimax -- the industry-leading provider of change-management software for enterprise communication networks -- announced today that its 2nd Nature(R) software for Cisco's Call Manager IP-PBX and Unity voice mail systems will be released March 2004. According to Unimax CEO Andrew Hunkins, "Our support of the fastest growing IP telephony (IPT) company's systems means that more communications managers for the first time can easily leverage the reduced costs and enhanced productivity offered by IPT technology's new integrated applications." The announcement expands Unimax's market for high-quality migration and change-management solutions, which already includes many Fortune 500 companies.

For enterprises that need to manage diverse equipment, 2nd Nature synchronizes data from multiple databases to simplify systems management. For enterprises that need to migrate information from a legacy device to a new IP telephony application, 2nd Nature streamlines the transformation and translation of user information from TDM to IP systems. Its unified system management interface concurrently supports new IP telephony systems such as Cisco's products, as well as legacy PBX and messaging systems.

Hunkins noted that even with the IP-based communication servers, the unified management framework continues to be a crucial missing link, despite the promotion of open-standards in IP applications. Since many applications still use proprietary management interfaces, a separate user interface is required each time a new employee is added or removed from the communication server. Not only is this redundant, but each interface has a different look and feel, which adds time and overhead to the initial installation, training, and on-going support needed to implement the new application.

Unimax's 2nd Nature unified management framework integrates the PBX and voice mail system, eliminating the need for disparate management interfaces and providing a single access point to configuration data. By providing a single point of synchronization for data residing in multiple servers, 2nd Nature eliminates the additional labor, costs, and errors associated with manually implementing redundant changes across voice mail and phone systems, including E911 changes. Plus, it reduces the time needed to install, train, and support communication servers.

Tom Stephens, manager of networks and hardware support for Cray Inc., an IP telephony installation since 2000, explained, "Unimax's synchronization solution is critical for solving day-to-day change management support issues in the IP telephony world. These applications provide additional ROI on IP telephony technology's advantages."
