New BDO-ET Fiber Pedestals From Charles Industries Protect Sealed Fiber Terminals in the Outside Plant

The Telecommunications Group of Charles Industries, Ltd., a privately held, diversified manufacturing and high-technology company, today announced the release of a new addition to its fiber distribution pedestal solutions, the BDO-ET series. The BDO-ET series of fiber pedestals is designed to house and protect sealed fiber terminal blocks and pre-connectorized fiber optic service drops in FTTx deployments.
BDO-ET Fiber Pedestals offer superior environmental protection of fiber access points in a craft-friendly, above-grade enclosure. Their non-metallic design protects fiber terminals and drops from floods, fires, tampering, wind-blown dust and debris. Internal bracketry allows technicians to mount up to two 4-port, 6-port, or 8-port sealed fiber terminal blocks or one 12-port block.
"Many service providers have embraced pre-connectorization in their FTTx architectures due to its ease of use and speed of deployment," noted Dick Hood, Vice President of Charles Industries' Outside Plant Business Unit. "Charles BDO-ET Fiber Pedestals fill these providers' need for a cost-effective, craft-friendly solution to protecting pre-connectorized fiber terminals and drops in the outside plant."
BDO-ET Fiber Pedestals come equipped with a terminal mounting plate optimized to mount Corning(R) OptiSheath(TM) Advantage MultiPort Terminals. BDO-ET mounting plates are also universally compatible with other manufacturers' sealed fiber terminals. A BDO-ETS option includes a built-in fiber splice tray holder attached to the terminal mounting plate. A low-profile BDO-ETLP version is also available. All models are included on the RDUP (formerly RUS) accepted list of buried plant housings.
Charles Industries will unveil the BDO-ET series of fiber pedestals to the telecommunications industry at GLOBALCOMM 2006 (exhibit #47015) and OSP EXPO 2006 (exhibit #77012), to be jointly held June 5-7 in Chicago, Illinois.
