AGS Wins Satellite Network Deal

Americom Government Services Inc. won a five-year, multimillion-dollar contract to provide satellite network services to U.S. Forces Korea, officials of the Princeton, N.J., company announced today.

AGS’ team member on the contract is Northrop Grumman Corp. of Los Angeles. The team designed the Demand Assigned Multiple Access network and customized terminals, according to AGS.

Through its General Services Administration schedule, AGS will provide and maintain a customized teleport hub that will serve as a main commercial satellite communications center for U.S. Forces Korea and will supply needed space segment to meet mission requirements in Korea.

Mitch Stevens, U.S. Forces Korea program manager, said AGS was selected for the job because the company can meet the organization’s satellite communications needs in a single integrated, scalable network.

AGS’ network will provide Defense Department Internet connectivity, videoconferencing and general telecommunications capabilities through secure and non-secure networks, to and from Korea.

AGS is a wholly owned subsidiary of satellite services supplier SES Americom of Princeton.
