SigmaTel Powers Two of Top Three Best-Sounding MP3 Players in CNET Audio Performance Test

SigmaTel Inc. (NASDAQ:SGTL), a leader in mixed-signal multimedia semiconductors, reported that its MP3 chips power two of the top three best-sounding MP3-players, based on audio performance tests conducted by CNET.com and released on April 25, 2006. The tests measured signal-to-noise ratio, distortion, and frequency response. CNET reported that the SigmaTel-powered Samsung YP-Z5 and the Apple iPod Shuffle came out on top, along with one other competitor-based product, out of a total of 13 players tested.

Last Quarter, a European industry publication gave top ratings to four Ministry of Sound(TM) MP3 players (MOSMP020, MOSMP043, MOSMP076X2, and MOSMP083X10). More recently, this same publication gave a top rating to the Samsung YP-Z5 (the CNET winner mentioned above).
