T2TV and T2 Communications Approved for Premium Content With Verimatrix Securing Its IPTV Service; VCAS Deployed to Protect Fiber-to-the-Home Content in Record Time

Posted on: Monday, 5 June 2006, 09:01 CDT

Verimatrix, developer of the most widely deployed IPTV content protection system with tier one operators, today at Globalcomm 2006 announced that T2TV LLC and T2 Communications LLC have deployed the Verimatrix Content Authority System (VCAS) on its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in Holland, Mich. T2 turned to Verimatrix when one of its premium broadcast providers required a content protection solution to gain access to premium broadcast channels. Verimatrix was able to successfully install VCAS within 10 days of purchase.

"We were amazed with Verimatrix's responsiveness and flexibility on delivering a critical part of our IPTV platform. They were able to quickly deploy their solution on our existing platform with no problems," said Ned Timmer, president of T2 Communications. "We pride ourselves on using the best technology to deliver the best services to our customers."

With its leading-edge technology, T2 Communications is dedicated to providing reliable, affordable and simplified TV (IP video), phone and Internet services to the greater Holland, Michigan area. With T2's IPTV service, subscribers have access to more than 200 channels, including local, news, sports, movie and foreign language programming. Additionally, T2 offers integrated features such as WebTV and on-screen caller ID, and has plans to deploy pay-per-view and video-on-demand (VoD) services soon. T2 is also the only full-service facilities-based phone and communications service company headquartered in Holland.

VCAS is a software-based content security solution built on the principles of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and X.509 digital certificates, which can be combined with VideoMark(TM) forensic digital watermarking technology. VCAS enables devices and systems within media delivery networks to be encrypted and authenticated in order to identify security breaches and unauthorized network users.

For the T2 deployment, VCAS is integrated with the Myrio TotalManage middleware, several of Amino's AmiNET series of set-top boxes, and headend equipment from TUT Systems.

"Today, content encryption is being mandated by more and more broadcasters, and as contracts come up for renewal, operators must have encryption in place, or they risk losing their programming. Our customers rely on us for a content provider approved solution that is easy and cost-effective to deploy," said Steve Oetegenn, EVP of Global Sales and Marketing, Verimatrix. "We are delighted that T2 entrusted us to secure this crucial component of their network and proud of what we accomplished in such a short turnaround time."
