Data Drive Thru, Inc. Receives Allowance for Issuance of Intelligent Computer Cable Patent

Posted on: Monday, 5 June 2006, 15:00 CDT

DALLAS, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Data Drive Thru, Inc. announced today that its founder and CEO, Paul L. Andrus, received a notice from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that his application for an Intelligent Computer Cable patent has been approved for issuance. The utility patent is significant in that the claims cover the transfer of data and files between two electronic data processing machines using a "smart cable" apparatus that automatically loads and runs software embedded within the device simply by plugging the device into specific interfaces of a computer such as a USB port. The patent has been assigned to the company and includes fifteen claims and six embodiments of the invention.

Data Drive Thru(TM) has completed test marketing of a product using the technology innovations and claims now approved by USPTO with great success. Mr. Andrus was quoted as saying, "This is an important milestone in the evolution of the company. The intellectual property protection offered by the issuance of this patent secures a significant revenue stream for the company for many years to come."

Based on technology concepts developed by Mr. Andrus going back to 1999, smart cables were invented to solve the problem of finding an easy and low cost solution to migrating data from one computer to another. While developed for the average PC user to facilitate getting all of their data off their old machine onto a new one, test marketing has shown that PC users of all skill levels and expertise have found products using the technology extremely useful. Within seconds of plugging the device in, the contents of both computers are displayed on a split-screen GUI. Data is then transferred simply by dragging and dropping the desired files to the other side of the screen. Transfer speeds have been recorded up to 25 MB/sec. What's extremely unique is the functionality of auto loading and auto running the necessary data transfer management software which is embedded within the cable housing unit simply by plugging the device in. No manual steps, wizards or thinking of any kind is required by the user to get the two computers networked.

Clint Hughes, Vice President Marketing, exclaimed, "We are obviously very excited about having the patent protection that basically gives us ownership of an entire emerging industry segment." Mr. Hughes went on to say, "The number one problem experienced by the 100 million plus purchasers in 2005 of a replacement PC was getting their files from their old PC to the newly purchased one. With replacement PC sales on the rise globally, products developed using our technology will be a 'must have' with any new PC purchase."

Data Drive Thru is finalizing a new proprietary design of a file transfer tool that will be released to support the launch of a television infomercial campaign scheduled for this fall. The new product is scheduled to retail for $59.95.
