CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), the government and education subsidiary of CDW Corporation (NASDAQ:CDWC) and leading supplier of brand-name Information Technology (IT) products and services to governments and educators, announced today that it will provide Microsoft and off-the-shelf software, as well as printers to Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
"These contracts demonstrate CDW-G's commitment to bringing technology to the classroom to improve learning," said Bob Kirby, CDW-G's senior director, K-12 sales. "By partnering with CDW-G, Chicago Public Schools are opening new horizons for student learning, while reducing the overall administrative burden."
Software Agreement
Under the software agreement, CDW-G was named a strategic sourcing partner for CPS and has won a contract to provide commercial off-the-shelf software, including Microsoft. With over 600 schools and 45,000 employees serving 425,000 students, CPS will use this contract to update software on more than 60,000 computers throughout the system. The software agreement, which includes three base-years with two, one-year extension options, is worth potentially $3 million per year.
Under the CDW-G contract, all software licensing and procurement information is consolidated through CDW-G's Software License Tracker, which provides a single point of access for easy tracking and reporting. The centralized information simplifies the acquisition of software and licenses for all Microsoft products and commercial-off-the shelf software for use by all CPS area offices, central office departments and schools.
Printer Agreement
CDW-G will provide printers to CPS under the contract, which includes two base-years with two, one-year extension options. The contract has the potential to be worth $2 million per year, if all options are exercised.
Under the contract, CDW-G will supply HP and Lexmark printers, as well as provide installation, on-site set up, training and warranty service for the printers through minority-owned service partners certified to work with CPS.
