Fujitsu Launches World's First Notebook and Desktop PCs With Atheros Super AG
Posted on: Monday, 26 April 2004, 06:00 CDT
SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Atheros Communications , a leading developer of advanced wireless LAN (WLAN) chipsets, today announced that Fujitsu Limited has launched four new notebook computer models and one new desktop computer model for the Japan market that incorporate Atheros 802.11g and 802.11a/g WLAN solutions. These are the world's first notebook and desktop PCs to feature Atheros Super AG(TM) and Super G(TM) technology. By integrating Atheros advanced silicon solutions and performance-boosting features into its notebook and desktop product line, Fujitsu is providing customers with wireless networking capabilities that deliver the highest wireless performance available on the market today, as measured by end-user throughput and range.
Fujitsu is offering Atheros Super AG technology in its new FMV-BIBLO MG75H/ST, FMV-BIBLO MG75H, FMV-BIBLO NH90H/T, and FMV-DESKPOWER CE50H7/S. Fujitsu has integrated the Atheros 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN chipset into these models to provide optimal compatibility with 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11a networks. The new FMV-BIBLO LOOX T50H Series notebook offers 802.11g wireless networking capability with Atheros' Super G functionality. All of these new Fujitsu models will have Atheros Super AG or Super G brand stickers to help users identify the feature set capabilities of the PC.
Japanese consumer and small business end-users have widely embraced Super AG and Super G enabled access point and router products, with seven leading Japanese WLAN equipment providers offering the performance-boosting technology in their products at retail. This wide array of complementary Super AG and Super G networking products will enable Fujitsu customers to enjoy the performance advantages of the technology in their own home or business wireless networks.
"Atheros Super AG and Super G technology is the industry's premier solution for high-throughput 802.11g and 802.11a/g wireless LANs," said Craig Barratt, president and chief executive officer of Atheros Communications. "Fujitsu has demonstrated a leadership role in Japan's mobile computing market by offering Atheros-based 802.11g- and 802.11a/g-enabled products. Fujitsu customers can now buy Atheros-branded Super AG and Super G solutions with the confidence that their notebooks and desktop can achieve maximum throughput and performance."
Atheros Super AG and Super G technology offers a combination of innovative performance-enhancement features -- packet bursting, fast frames, and data compression -- that improve the throughput and range of wireless networking products. The technology supports up to 54Mbps data rates for users in Japan, with typical end-user throughput of up to 40 Mbps. This is the highest throughput available on the market today, delivering user speeds that are 1.5-2.0 times faster than standard 802.11g or 802.11a/g products.
Fujitsu notebooks and desktop enabled with Atheros Super AG and Super G technology are available now in Japan and can be purchased through Fujitsu's web site or any retail channels.
