ProStores Launches Developer Network at Fifth Annual eBay Developers Conference

Posted on: Monday, 12 June 2006, 09:00 CDT

ProStores, an eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) Company that enables small- and medium-sized businesses to establish full-featured, customized e-commerce sites, today launched the ProStores Developer Network. Through this new program, ProStores will work with the developer community to create innovative new tools and services that meet the technical and business needs of ProStores merchants. ProStores announced their Developer Network at the eBay Developers Conference in Las Vegas, an annual event that brings the eBay Inc. developer communities together to explore business and innovation opportunities on the Web.

ProStores is a complete e-commerce storefront solution offering four tiers of service, each with its own level of functionality and sophistication. Developers will be creating applications that integrate with ProStores to enhance functions and user experiences ranging from shipping to store promotions and marketing.

"Just as eBay and PayPal have nurtured relationships with developers, ProStores will also work closely with developers and new technology innovators to offer new and creative approaches to operate and streamline an online store," said Julian Green, director of ProStores. "We're thrilled to announce this new program to the developer community. We are looking forward to these innovators building applications that create a better experience for ProStores' users, and enabling merchants to use together the different tools and systems they need to run their business successfully."

Illustrative of the ProStores Developer Network's opportunities and potential, three developers revealed new applications that are integrated with ProStores and available for immediate purchase:

-- Doba, an eBay Certified Service Provider, has developed an application for product sourcing, catalog content integration with ProStores' merchants and drop shipments of products.

-- Shipworks, another eBay Certified Service Provider, has created an application to help ProStores merchants manage and ship orders.

-- Avalara has produced an application for managing sales tax, a program that integrates with accounting software and supplies sales-tax information for merchants to use during the checkout process.

Mpire, an eBay Certified Solution Provider, also announced their support to develop applications on the ProStores platform. Mpire provides software for eBay businesses that allows them to sell goods online while tracking inventory and managing finances with customer and supply-chain management applications integration.

Developers now have the opportunity to offer their applications to the rapidly expanding base of ProStores owners. Developers can register for the ProStores Developer Network at http://www.prostores.com/developernetwork.

Approved developers receive a software development kit (SDK) and the ability to showcase ProStores' new Compatible Application logo in their marketing materials, highlighting that their integrations are sanctioned by ProStores.
