HyperSpace(R) Announces Acceleration Solution for Internet Service Providers

Posted on: Wednesday, 14 April 2004, 06:00 CDT

WASHINGTON, ISPCON, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- HyperSpace(R) Communications Inc., a worldwide leader in the development of Internet and wide area network (WAN) acceleration software products, today announced general availability of its network acceleration solutions for the Internet Service Provider (ISP) market.

HyperSpace ISP solutions offer a combination of benefits not previously available in an acceleration solution for ISPs. HyperSpace solutions are software-based and do not require ISPs or their clients to acquire proprietary hardware. The solutions accelerate both network traffic and client/server applications in both directions between the client and the server. HyperSpace also provides back-haul acceleration in both directions.

"We've all seen the television ads by ISPs who are providing their customers with faster service through compression. HyperSpace offers a solution that provides both downstream and upstream acceleration and adds security through encryption and user authentication," says Mark Endry, chief executive officer. "A key difference with HyperSpace is that our acceleration solutions work at the application level. There are multiple techniques applied that together greatly accelerate client server or network-based applications."

HyperSpace provides two solutions for ISPs -- HyperWeb(TM) and HyperTunnel(TM). HyperWeb accelerates all downstream web traffic for both wired and wireless users. HyperTunnel provides bi-directional acceleration for web traffic, images, and applications. Both products provide acceleration for dial-up, DSL, cable, leased line, and wireless connections. HyperTunnel also solves the "back-haul bottleneck" for ISPs, a growing problem on ISPs' traffic aggregation networks as Internet usage continues to increase.

"HyperTunnel is the only solution we know of that, in a low-cost environment, allows an ISP to provide both down- and up-stream compression, which includes recompression of images and the multiplexing of data into a single stream. These features offer huge advancement to the end-users. And, with the smart use of this product and its capabilities, we can use it in our backhaul for bandwidth savings and link efficiency," says Edward Millington, engineer for Sunbeach Communications Incorporated.

These three solutions combine to offer the most powerful and complete solution for ISPs wanting to maximize throughput on their networks and increase value-based service revenue from their subscribers:

* HyperWeb as a "routed" solution is priced to allow a universal

roll-out to all customers -- literally overnight;

* HyperTunnel lets ISPs offer a premium "opt-in" service for

bi-directional acceleration of all protocols and applications;

* HyperTunnel architecture maximizes compression on all data/image

traffic, which frees up more bandwidth for heavy applications like

VoIP;

* HyperTunnel upstream compression is crucial for web-based email and

other applications sending a lot of data upstream;

* HyperTunnel can allow some customers of ISPs to accelerate

client/server applications from their office and provide small

business users access to their servers when they are on the road.
