Network Storage Corporation (NSC), a network attached storage (NAS) software innovator with its SPANStor technology, today announced it has retained Strategic Advisory Services International, LLC (SASI) to explore strategic options including sale of the company.
SPANStor is an award-winning multi-protocol enterprise-enabled NAS software suite that is currently fielded worldwide in the mid-range storage market, the fastest growing segment of the storage market. Over the past few years, SPANStor enabled products have received numerous awards including "NAS Product of the Year" Well Connected award, Network Computing Magazine's Editors Choice Award, and PC Magazines Editors Choice Award. SPANStor offers many unique functions and capabilities and is deployed in production environments ranging from large commercial enterprises to governmental organizations worldwide. "With over three generations of SPANStor deployed to thousands of commercial and government users, SPANStor has proven that enterprise class features like replication and high availability combined with our innovative journaled file system technology provide exceptional value in the mid-range market," said Brad Clemmons, President of NSC. "SPANStor Version 6 will be released this summer, further enhancing our advanced snapshot file systems with additional virtualization, security, and robustness." Current SPANStor end-users include a balanced mix of government and commercial companies like: GE Security, Procter and Gamble, Lexmark, West Telemarketing, US Internal Revenue Service, US National Institutes of Health, Taiwan Futures Exchange, Cubist Pharmaceuticals, NSA, and NOAA. NSC sells today primarily through indirect channels including OEM, System Integrator, and VAR partners.
NSC has been primarily focused on software development and recognizes that market penetration through channel development can best be achieved by aligning with a strategic partner. While seeking a strategic partner, NSC plans to maintain current business activities and investment in SPANStor.
