Looking Glass Networks Announces Expanded Ethernet Service Offering

Posted on: Friday, 23 April 2004, 06:00 CDT

OAK BROOK, Ill., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Looking Glass(R) Networks, Inc., a facilities-based provider of metropolitan telecommunication transport services, announced today that it has expanded EtherGLASS(SM), its already extensive Ethernet service offering. Currently available in all 12 of the company's metro markets, Ethernet services are now also available between New York and Washington D.C. via Extended Regional Metro Connectivity.

"Ethernet is an excellent access technology for service providers and enterprise customers," said Nick Lenoci, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Looking Glass Networks. "With more than 41 Ethernet customers, many are purchasing these services using our Extended Regional Metro Connectivity from locations such as 60 Hudson Street in New York City, to key data aggregation centers in the Washington D.C. area."

Looking Glass' Extended Regional Metro Connectivity offers redundancy and diversity to major data aggregation locations between metro markets. Extended Regional Metro Connectivity is offered between New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., as well as between San Francisco and the San Jose Bay Area.

In addition to consistent fast provisioning, Looking Glass now offers flat rate pricing for its Ethernet services rather than more traditional mileage- based pricing. Flat rate pricing is available from 60 Hudson Street and other New York on-net locations to any of Looking Glass' on-net buildings in Washington, D.C., which include key data aggregation centers and several U.S. Government locations.

"What separates us from the competition is that we own and control our fiber foot print and provide connectivity to all major carrier hotels in our markets," said Lenoci. "Looking Glass' flexible network architecture allows us to continually expand our product and service offerings so we can provide cost effective solutions to meet our customers' changing data transport needs," he added.

Looking Glass' Ethernet offering includes full and fractional Gigabit Ethernet as well as traditional 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interfaces.

With current connectivity to 400 buildings, interconnections to over 133 carriers and 650 points of presence, Looking Glass offers lit, dark fiber and collocation services in twelve of the largest U.S. metro markets including Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Northern New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle and Washington D.C./Northern Virginia. Specializing in turnkey solutions to facility engineering and construction needs, both domestically and internationally, Looking Glass' physically diverse networks offer an alternative that can meet and exceed customers' specific requirements.
