BroadLight Promotes Raanan Gewirtzman to COO After Stellar Period of Company and Product Execution

Posted on: Monday, 19 June 2006, 09:00 CDT

BroadLight, Inc., a leading supplier of ITU Passive Optical Network (PON) semiconductors and software, today announced the promotion of Raanan Gewirtzman to Chief Operating Officer (COO). Raanan joined the company as General Manager in October 2003 and has successfully led the team that delivered the industry's first GPON silicon in December 2005, which enabled the company to capture more than 25 new design wins less than 5 months after first samples.

"It is with great pleasure that I recognize Raanan's contributions to BroadLight after a stellar period of flawless product execution and worldwide customer expansion," said Andrew Vought, CEO of BroadLight. "Under Raanan's leadership, BroadLight's first GPON silicon achieved production-quality, adhered to all the interoperability standards and gave BroadLight the time-to-market advantage it needed to establish a clear market leadership position."

Raanan has more than 20 years of experience in hardware and software design along with strong managerial skills in IC development operations. Before BroadLight, Raanan was instrumental in building the development arm of Virata, where he developed a new range of communication processors and introduced a full COT process flow. Prior to Virata, Raanan spent 14 years with IBM Research and Development. Raanan holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering and a BSc in Computer Engineering from Technion Institute of Technology.
