On Display at SIA Exhibit: New Integration of Avistar Video With IBM Lotus Sametime 7.5 Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing Solution; Video Capability Heightens Collaboration for Financial Services Institutions

Posted on: Monday, 19 June 2006, 09:00 CDT

Avistar Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:AVSR), a video collaboration platform provider, will be participating in the Securities Industry Association (SIA) Technology Management Exhibit from June 20-22 at the Hilton New York to demonstrate how financial services firms are using the power of visual communications to address challenges such as maintaining business continuity, making timely and effective decisions and managing complex dispersed relationships in today's increasingly global environment.

On display at booth #1520, Avistar will also showcase a new presence-based integration with IBM Lotus(R) Sametime(R) 7.5, IBM's new instant messaging and web conferencing solution. With availability projected for Fall 2006, this integration will enable users to place one-to-one or multi-party video calls from the Lotus Sametime buddy list. Similar video communications capability has also been incorporated into the IBM Workplace Managed Client(TM) platform, and extended to widely used Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

"Effective collaboration is a key to success in today's fluid, fast-paced, global financial services industry," said Gerald J. Burnett, Chairman and CEO at Avistar. "Video connectivity not only speeds, deepens and clarifies communications, it also helps ensure business continuity in a world fraught with potential disruptions, including pandemics, transit strikes and severe weather conditions."

Visitors to Avistar's exhibit will see how the AvistarVOS(TM), Avistar's pioneering high-quality video operating system, equips many of the world's leading financial services institutions with interactive "face-to-face" accessibility to speed and enhance key business processes. Whether it's morning meetings, research updates from internal analysts or broadcast meetings to discuss developing information that impacts markets, Avistar facilitates communications that cultivates trust and deepens understanding.

Video-enabling workers at the desktop smoothes the execution of complex collaborative negotiations across time zones and cultural barriers; facilitates the exchange and leveraging of in-house expertise and research; and offers interactive broadcasts for sales or other presentations addressing market conditions and other areas of strategic importance. Users can also record content for later playback and distribution through e-mail or the Web.
