Social Q&A Site Answerbag.Com Unveils 'Video Answers(TM)'

Posted on: Monday, 19 June 2006, 09:00 CDT

MARINA DEL REY, Calif., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Answerbag, the first social question and answer Web site in the United States and a division of leading online content provider InfoSearch Media, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: ISHM) , today announced the launch of its newest feature, "Video Answers(TM)." The first feature of its kind available on the Internet, Answerbag's Video Answers will now allow users to answer questions with images rather than text, enabling detailed visual answers for questions like, "How do I bathe a baby?" or "How do I do a 'wheelie' on a motorcycle?"

"The explosion of video usage on the Web has demonstrated not only our enduring appetite for images, but also our interest in the rich and complex information images contain. The limitations of algorithmic search have focused Web activity on text, but Video Answers leverages the capacity of human intelligence to interpret images, going beyond what machine search can do," said George Lichter, CEO of Infosearch Media. "Answerbag now allows people to provide better explanations to both questions that are hard to answer with only text and questions where the answer itself is a video. We are offering another innovative way for people to help each other by answering questions and sharing knowledge."

With video feeds provided by YouTube, MySpace and other video providers, Answerbag's Video Answers is the first application that offers its users the ability to harness the power of video to both explain and entertain. Using video cameras, digital cameras and even cell phones, it is now possible for plumbers, chefs, mechanics, parents -- a wide array of experts, tradesmen or handy and entertaining people -- to impart their knowledge to others by using a video.

"Social Q&A is more than search, it is content creation and publishing. It is a community of people who want high quality and helpful responses to a specific question from other users that they trust," said Joel Downs, vice president of product marketing, InfoSearch Media, and founder of Answerbag. "As the first Social Q&A site to offer video, we feel that we are providing a better, more in-depth experience for our users. Answerbag is committed, through technology innovations and strategic new hires, to providing the best tools and experience online for this community."

In conjunction with the launch of Video Answers, Answerbag will conduct an online contest for users to post relevant and useful video answers to questions posed on the site. The Video Answers provided will be judged by how well they answer the question and how valuable their information is, and the best answers will be eligible for prizes.

Additionally, Answerbag announced that it has surpassed the 1 million unique user milestone, due largely to word-of-mouth and the quality of its users. Answerbag was created in 2003 and has developed a strong following of users, both novice and experts, who provide in-depth information on a wide-variety of topics, even with a limited marketing budget.
