Enclarity and Surveillance Data Form Strategic Alliance; Agreement Creates Comprehensive Solutions for Pharmaceutical Industry's Marketing Efforts for Prescription Medicines

Posted on: Tuesday, 20 June 2006, 09:00 CDT

Continuing to expand its ability to serve the healthcare industry, Enclarity(TM), an information management and analytic software company focused on the healthcare market, today announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with Surveillance Data, Inc. (SDI), a research market leader for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. The alliance combines Enclarity's PharmaPoint(TM), a fully automated ASP (application service provider) solution that applies proven analytics to link and clean different client sources of provider data, with SDI's massive quantitative, de-identified longitudinal patient database. By joining forces, the two companies will create comprehensive marketing solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.

"The pharmaceutical industry is asking for a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the prescribing habits of physicians," said Andrew Kress, SDI president. "We chose Enclarity as our partner because of its technological strength and ability to marry its master provider database to our detailed prescription data. Our two companies' combined data will enable us to obtain a complete profile of physicians and their prescription activities. This will provide invaluable information to the pharmaceutical companies, allowing them to more effectively target their marketing efforts."

SDI has a variety of HIPAA-compliant data sources -- including direct data collection from hundreds of remote sites such as physician offices and laboratories, as well as large-scale data analysis of medical, pharmacy and hospital claims data.

Enclarity's PharmaPoint is an innovative, fully automated ASP software solution that links and verifies different client sources of provider data. The software identifies providers and matches this data against prescription information for data analysis and modeling, including:

-- Prescription share/volume data that contains prescription records written by providers for a drug or drug class

-- Sales data that identifies which sales rep visited which provider, including the location and date

-- Sample data detailing what drug samples were given to each provider by sales reps

PharmaPoint -- which is one-hundred percent HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliant -- works by first cleaning data, including identifying inaccurate and incomplete information, removing duplicate records and then uniquely identifying each individual. The files are then enhanced with information from Enclarity's massive provider database. Then, AcuSync(TM), Enclarity's proprietary analytic technology, verifies the accuracy of the data while appending and bridging information to select the data that is accurate, including physician practice data and demographic, attitudinal and census information. The records are updated regularly so that accurate, reliable provider information is always available.

"With over $11 billion being spent each year on pharmaceutical sales and marketing promotion in the U.S., this alliance represents a significant and influential relationship for Enclarity," said Sean Downs, Enclarity president and CEO. "By combining PharmaPoint with SDI's deep domain expertise in the pharmaceutical marketplace and patient-level claims data, SDI's customers will be able to gain a better understanding of what medications physicians are prescribing in order to obtain a competitive advantage in the marketplace."
