Hyperic Joins Open Source Management Group

Recent open source systems management convert Hyperic Inc has announced that has joined the Open Management Consortium, a group set up recently to further the adoption of open source systems management software and develop open standards.
The San Francisco, California-based systems management vendor announced in May that it would release its Hyperic HQ code under an open source license, with binaries now available free of charge and a GNU General Public License version coming in July.
The company is now teaming up with fellow open source management vendors Qlusters Inc, Emu Software Inc, Zenoss Inc, Symbiot Inc, the Webmin project, and Ayamon LLC, which formed the OMC in May.
The OMC was formed to create more awareness of open source software for systems management, create standards that enable interoperability and integration, and work together on common projects.
Hyperic HQ is designed offer management of all major web servers, application servers, databases, operating system, and virtualization technologies, including products from Microsoft Corp, BEA Systems Inc, Sun Microsystems Inc, Oracle Corp, and IBM Corp, as well as Linux and other open source projects.
