M-Wise Enables Premium Multimedia Messaging Service Over Verizon Network
Posted on: Tuesday, 27 June 2006, 09:00 CDT
m-Wise, Inc. (OTCBB: MWIS), leading international developer of technology and solutions for mobile content providers, wireless operators, and on-demand application service providers, proudly announces the enabling of premium MMS billing over the Verizon Wireless network.
While many U.S.-based mobile operators allow aggregators of mobile content like ringtones and games to bill and distribute to network subscribers using SMS (Short Message Service) technology, Verizon has recently joined the market of premium billing services offered to content aggregators by taking a more advanced approach.
Rather than using SMS messaging for premium charges, Verizon is now harnessing the next generation, MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) technology, which greatly enhances the consumer experience by allowing users to receive multimedia content on their handsets and multimedia devices in a more direct way.
MMS is the evolution of SMS. With MMS, a mobile device is no longer confined to text-only messages. It can also send and receive multimedia messages such as graphics, video and audio clips, and entire multimedia presentations.
m-Wise has already implemented premium SMS-based billing capabilities over most major mobile operators' networks throughout the U.S. including Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile, and Sprint. With the amazing growth in popular support for MMS technology, it is logical for m-Wise to build on its past success in messaging by enabling its customers with the improved features and performance of MMS.
m-Wise is pleased to be one of the very first companies to successfully complete implementation of Verizon's premium MMS protocols and qualify most of Verizon's MMS handsets in order to run this service for its customers and strategic partners.
"We are very proud of this achievement," said Zach Sivan, m-Wise's VP of Sales and Marketing. "Our proven track record and vast experience in mobile multimedia messaging are key factors in our ability to deliver this service in a rapid and efficient way. We are one of the only companies in the U.S. with the ability to offer MMS enhancements for content aggregators and we believe, working with our partners, we are now pioneers in making their offerings available to Verizon subscribers."
Operated on or through more than 50 mobile networks throughout Europe, North and Latin America, and Asia, m-Wise's MOMA (Mobile Once, Mobile Anywhere) service/delivery engine provides one of the industry's most robust platforms for mobile operators, wireless ASPs, content providers, and media producers.
