IXYS' Micronix Develops High-Side Current Monitor With 10-Bit Serial Digital Output
Posted on: Tuesday, 27 June 2006, 09:00 CDT
IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ:SYXI) announced today that its Micronix division has introduced the industry's first integrated high-side current monitor with 10-bit serial digital output. The MX884 converts a small voltage developed across an external "current" sense resistor to a 10-bit digital output. It features a wide common mode input supply voltage range of 3V to 60V and easily interfaces to most microcontrollers. The design is simple yet cost-effective, requiring very few external components, making it especially suitable for high volume applications.
Bob DeCaro, General Manager and Vice President of Micronix commented, "Our MX884 targets power management applications where high noise immunity and low cost are primary requirements. Its integrated 10-bit ADC provides high resolution, making it ideal for current monitoring systems. The MX884 is another product that enables digital power management, in which a microcontroller can readily monitor the current in a system and perform other control functions in power systems and motion control products. The MX884 is priced competitively, with a standard lead time of 10-12 weeks."
Micronix, a leader in the design of high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, has produced over 400 application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and application specific standard products (ASSPs) for the display, communications, consumer, and medical markets. Micronix is a subsidiary company of IXYS Corporation, a leading supplier of higher power semiconductors and modules for the global power market. IXYS develops and markets primarily high performance power and RF semiconductors and control ICs that are used in controlling and converting electrical power efficiently in power systems for telecommunication infrastructure, motor drives, medical systems and transportation. IXYS also serves emerging markets with digital and analog ICs that control flat panel displays, medical instruments and telecommunication products.
