Apprise Software Customer A-America Recognized As Laureate By the Computerworld Honors Program

Posted on: Wednesday, 28 June 2006, 09:00 CDT

BRIDGEWATER, N.J., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Apprise Software, Inc., a leading provider of integrated software solutions for consumer goods distributors, announced today that customer A-America, Inc. has been recognized as a Laureate in IDG's Computerworld Honors Program for the implementation of its Apprise(R) Distribution application.

For almost two decades, Computerworld Honors has acknowledged those individuals and organizations that have successfully used information technology to drive economic progress and benefit society. This year's honorees were commemorated during the 18th Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening on June 5, 2006 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

"A-America has always taken pride in its focus on constant improvement initiatives in order to remain competitive and sustain an advantage in a rapidly changing and highly-competitive market. Being part of the 2006 Computerworld Honors Program brings recognition to the value and contribution that IT makes to our organization's success and continued growth," said Kurtis Beach, information systems manager for A-America. "In addition, as a mid-sized business, it is an honor that our efforts and success in the implementation of leading technologies has been recognized alongside those of some of the world's best and most innovative companies."

Each year, members of the Chairmen's Committee identify the organizations whose use of information technology has been especially noteworthy for the originality of its concept, the breadth of its vision, and the significance of its benefit to both their organization and society.

"The Computerworld Honors Program seeks to recognize organizations, from a variety of sectors, for their ongoing efforts to utilize technology in order to benefit one's organization and society," said Bob Carrigan, Chairman of the Computerworld Honors Program Chairmen's Committee and President, IDG Communications. "We are proud to provide a platform to publicly acknowledge these contributions."

A-America was recognized as a Laureate in the manufacturing/distribution sector for its implementation of a new ERP system and technologies that are provided by Apprise Software. Based on the award winning Progress OpenEdge 10 platform from Progress Software (PRGS), the enterprise-wide solution, which includes wireless device integration in the warehouse, provides seamless integration across applications and delivers real-time information access and visibility that enables A-America to better track and manage business performance. The industry focused, flexible solution provides A-America with the platform necessary to meet its customers' needs while accommodating its growing and changing business, without requiring significant and costly ongoing customization. The outcome is that A-America has been able to achieve dramatic business results, including a 67% efficiency gain in warehouse picking, a nearly 100% efficiency gain in information access and reporting, and a ROI payback of less than one year.

"We are proud of the recognition A-America has received for its significant business achievements," said Jeff Broadhurst, president of Apprise Software, Inc. "Our goal is to provide mid-market consumer good distributors, like A-America, with the software and services they need to meet the requirements of their customers while also delivering improved efficiencies and productivity that will have a positive impact on both their top and bottom line."

About the Computerworld Honors Program

Founded by International Data Group (IDG) in 1988, the Computerworld Honors Program is governed by the not-for-profit Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation. In its 18th year, Computerworld Honors is the longest running global program to honor individuals and organizations that use information technology to benefit society.

Each year, the program's Chairmen's Committee, a group of 100 Chairmen/CEOs of global technology companies, nominates individuals and organizations around the world whose visionary application of information technology promotes positive social and economic progress. Nominations are evaluated by an independent board of CIO-level judges who select laureates, finalists and award winners, in 10 industry-related categories, to be honored at a Laureate Medal Ceremony.

The technology achievements honored by this program are preserved and protected in national archives, and in over 250 universities, museums and research institutions throughout the world.
