This announcement represents another step by Sprint to build upon relationships with minority-owned institutions and further delivers on a commitment that was made by Sprint chairman and chief executive officer Gary Forsee in a speech he gave to Kansas City leaders on March 5.
"Sprint values diversity and will continue to demonstrate its commitment to diversity by working with highly respected institutions such as these," said David Thomas, chief diversity officer at Sprint. "In addition, Sprint has committed to increase its spending with minority suppliers to seven percent of supplier spending, and we're making progress."
Earlier this year, Sprint invested $5 million in the Williams Capital Liquid Asset Fund, a AAA-rated money-market fund managed by Williams Capital Management, LLC, in New York City. Sprint also deposited $1 million with Kansas City-based Douglass National Bank. Additionally, Sprint was recently named to the Top 50 Companies for Diversity list by DiversityInc., ranking 11th overall. To assess diversity success, companies were asked specific questions related to CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate Communications and Supplier Diversity.
