Progress Software Recognized in SD Times 100 Awards for Fourth Consecutive Year; Progress Included in ''SOA and Integration'' and ''Data and Host Integration'' Categories on Prestigious List of Software Industry Leaders

Posted on: Wednesday, 28 June 2006, 18:00 CDT

Progress Software Corporation (Nasdaq: PRGS), a supplier of leading technology to develop, deploy, integrate and manage business applications, has been named in two categories of the annual SD Times 100 awards. Progress was honored in the "SOA and Integration" category for its use of innovative data stream processing to enhance the analysis and reporting of business activity, as well as the "Data and Host Integration" category for the performance and compliance benefits delivered by its implementation of event-stream data processing to help in the analysis of large numbers of transactions. This is the fourth consecutive year Progress has made the SD Times 100 list recognizing the leaders and innovators of the software industry.

"The winners of this year's SD Times 100 awards have demonstrated exceptional leadership in shaping the software development industry," said David Rubinstein, editor-in-chief of SD Times. "We took into account each nominee's products and services, its reputation among development managers and the new ideas it brought out. These select organizations have demonstrated leadership in their markets, through the strength of their products and the technological innovation that drives our industry forward."

Progress Software offers a comprehensive portfolio of innovative products, including Actional(R) SOA and Web service management, Apama(R) event-stream processing, DataDirect(R) data connectivity and mainframe integration, EasyAsk(R) natural language query, DataXtend(R) data integration, ObjectStore(R) object database, the Progress OpenEdge(R) business application platform and the Sonic ESB(R). By simplifying and accelerating the development, deployment, integration and management of business applications, Progress Software makes it possible for organizations to increase the value of their business, reduce IT complexity and decrease their TCO (total cost of ownership).

"Innovations from Progress Software are having a significant impact on our customers around the world and we are pleased that those efforts have been recognized by SD Times," said Jeffrey Stamen, senior vice president, corporate development and strategy, at Progress Software Corporation. "Washington, D.C. uses Sonic ESB technology as an integral part of its crime fighting efforts; Starwood Hotels relies on our ObjectStore technology to keep its online reservation system highly responsive; Bonhams, the world's fastest-growing fine art auction house, redesigned its software architecture with Progress OpenEdge technology; and Boekhandels Group Nederland, the Netherlands leading book retailer combined our OpenEdge, EasyAsk and Apama products with item-level RFID book tagging to create the world's first "Smart Store" and position as itself as a leader in retail automation. These are just a few examples of Progress innovation in action."

The SD Times 100 is the latest honor earned by Progress Software. The company was also recently named one of the most influential technology companies by Intelligent Enterprise, one of the top New England companies by Boston Business Journal and had two customers named to InfoWorld's 2006 CTO 25.
