DG FastChannel's Spot Box Now Online at ESPN and Affiliated Networks; Universal Deployment Initiative Continues; Spot Box is ESPN's First Electronic Media Server

Posted on: Thursday, 29 June 2006, 09:00 CDT

DG FastChannel, Inc. (Nasdaq: DGIT), the leading provider of digital media distribution services to the advertising and broadcast industries, announced today that ESPN and its associated networks have deployed the DG FastChannel Spot Box(TM). The Spot Box is the digital media distribution industry's most powerful broadcast content server as measured by the versatility of digital delivery options, storage capacity and tracking features, and it is the first server adopted by the ESPN family of networks for electronic receipt of advertisements.

"Today marks an important milestone for DG FastChannel. ESPN, the premier sports entertainment and news networks, has chosen to deploy the Spot Box for all of their networks," stated Scott K. Ginsburg, Chairman and CEO of DG FastChannel. "Bringing ESPN online extends the success of our Universal Deployment initiative as cable and television networks, television stations and cable systems have embraced the efficiencies, reliability and accountability of advertising deliveries transferred through the network. ESPN has shifted to a file based delivery model, and will now avoid the inefficiencies associated with deliveries on tape. Advertisers and agencies, on the other hand, can quickly, securely and on a cost-efficient basis send their advertisements to the important, highly coveted ESPN networks."

Mr. Ginsburg added, "Through the successful Universal Deployment initiative, the DG FastChannel digital delivery network has unequaled reach in the United States including virtually 100% of all television stations, television and cable networks and cable systems. By improving efficiencies for our broadcasting and advertising partners, we also have elevated efficiency levels at DG FastChannel. Without question, the addition of ESPN will enhance our online video delivery performance."

With DG FastChannel Spot Boxes installed at approximately 4,100 video destinations in the United States and Canada, the DG FastChannel network is the industry's most powerful conduit for electronically distributing advertising spots. The Company's network now reaches 99% of all U.S. TV stations, 94% of the television and cable networks, and nearly 100% of all cable systems. This market penetration underscores the DG FastChannel networks' position as the advertising industry's largest and most reliable platform for electronically transmitting broadcast commercials.

ESPN, Inc. is a cable and satellite television service which operates domestic television sports networks: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, ESPNEWS and ESPN Deportes (a Spanish language network launched in January 2004). ESPN also operates two high-definition television simulcast services, ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD.
