T-Systems Selects Lucent Technologies to Maintain and Support Global IP Network

BONN, Germany, April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lucent Technologies today announced that it has been awarded a contract by T-Systems International, the systems division of Deutsche Telekom, to provide multivendor maintenance and support services for IP equipment in T-Systems' global network, "Telekom Global Net."

This major contract reinforces Lucent's strategic direction to grow its services business by providing multi-vendor network services.

"Lucent has demonstrated the flexibility that we need for our business," said Jody Craft, executive vice president Global Service Delivery, T-Systems. "International coverage through Lucent Worldwide Services and its partnerships also speak in favor of Lucent."

Lucent Worldwide Services (LWS) will provide global tier two and three maintenance support for TSI's Internet Protocol virtual private network (IP VPN) and global IP Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks. LWS also will provide remote technical support and two-hour and four-hour options for advanced exchange services, including software upgrades, to remotely monitor, repair and exchange components of the IP network worldwide.

Today, more than 30 percent of LWS customer deployments and 20 percent of its services revenue come from multi-vendor business. In addition, Lucent's multi-vendor networking experience spans more than 120 vendors and 470 different products.
