Texas Instruments DLP(TM) Products Announces 3 Millionth Shipment

DALLAS, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) today announced that is has shipped its 3 millionth DLP(TM) subsystem, reflecting the increased demand and growth of DLP products across a broad range of projection applications. With products shipping since 1996, TI announced its 2 millionth shipment in August 2003, representing 50% growth in just 8 months. More than 50 manufacturer customers worldwide offer imaging products based on DLP(TM) technology, which is the only display technology in the world that can enable a sub-2 lb. projector and light up a 75-foot movie screen.

DLP technology is utilized across a variety of projection applications, bringing clear, sharp, vibrant images to business, home entertainment, and professional venue projectors, large-screen high-definition TVs and digital cinema. In addition to the growing projector business, TI has seen increasing momentum around DLP TVs, with more than 18 customers worldwide having announced large-screen high-definition TVs enabled by DLP technology. In 2004, Mitsubishi, Toshiba and Skyworth have announced plans to add DLP TVs to their product lines. In addition InFocus, LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Thomson have announced TVs that bring sleek new styles and flat panel form factors to the DLP TV category.
