Anne Arundel County Selects Digital Support Corporation
CHANTILLY, Va., May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Digital Support Corporation (DSC), a wholly owned subsidiary of TechTeam Global, Inc., , a global provider of information technology and business process outsourcing support services, today announced that Anne Arundel County, Maryland has awarded DSC a contract to provide support services for its desktop and network systems via the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 70.
The GSA contracts with vendors to ensure that they offer the best price and service. The resulting schedules reduce lead times and administrative costs because government entities do not need to seek further competitive bids or evaluate pricing in order to comply with government purchasing regulations. Traditionally, the GSA Schedules are used by federal government agencies, yet more state and local governments are utilizing them to reduce the time and costs associated with the bidding process.
Anne Arundel County has been using DSC’s help-desk, computer hardware maintenance, network engineering, technology refresh, and PC deployment services to support its 2,600 desktop, mobile computing, and network systems for more than three years, and its existing contract was expiring. The County was determined to streamline the time-consuming and costly process of issuing requests for proposals, evaluating bids, and making a final selection.
“When we first bid the contract in 2000, we received approximately 30 responses and needed to form a committee to review the bids and narrow them down to a manageable group,” stated Rick Schimpf, Help Center and Desktop Support Manager for Anne Arundel County. “Using the GSA Schedule, we reduced the number of bids we had to review to just a handful, and were able to evaluate the bids, make a recommendation, and award the contract within only three weeks.”
In addition to reducing the evaluation cycle, the County also found the GSA Schedule delivered lower prices. “The prices in the bid responses were extremely low by today’s standards,” stated Schimpf. “We are now paying a lower rate than our initial contract. The GSA competition definitely helped us get a better rate.”
