Posted on: Tuesday, 11 July 2006, 09:00 CDT

BOSTON, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- PolyServe, Inc., a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, has announced its membership in the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Always On Technologies program at the 2006 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference. Membership in the Always On program signifies that PolyServe's solution for more cost effective management of many SQL Server 2005 instances, the PolyServe Database Utility(TM), supports the high availability demands of enterprise mission-critical applications and meets storage solution requirements for SQL Server 2005. The PolyServe Database Utility becomes the first software product to join the Always On Technologies program.

"PolyServe's acceptance into the Always On Technologies program is further evidence of our strong partnership with Microsoft and commitment to deliver mission-critical data center solutions enabled by SQL Server 2005," said Todd Behrbaum, PolyServe's general manager, Microsoft solutions. "Our Database Utility solves a critical need as enterprises look to migrate and consolidate to SQL Server 2005 for greater manageability, smarter resource allocation and maximum uptime from their IT infrastructure."

The Always On Technologies program highlights technologies that support mission-critical applications, such as databases, with the highest level of availability and reliability. To participate in the Always On Technologies program's first phase, the Storage Solutions Review program, PolyServe documented in detail the PolyServe Database Utility's support for nine technical requirements of SQL Server 2005 for customer predictability and business continuity.

"PolyServe boasts a unique and very successful track record as a platform for running mission-critical SQL Server with increased management efficiency as well as high availability, and we are pleased to welcome them into the SQL Server 2005 Always On Technologies program," said Michael Raheem, senior product manager at Microsoft Corp. "Having PolyServe join the Always On Technologies program further demonstrates their commitment to enabling enterprises to deploy a greater number of business-critical applications on SQL Server 2005 while significantly reducing the cost of database management."

Winner of the Windows IT Media Best of Tech Ed 2006 award for "Most Innovative Product," the PolyServe Database Utility for SQL Server is designed for and completely compatible with Windows Server System and SQL Server 2005. The PolyServe Database Utility runs native in Windows Server System to attain maximum I/O throughput without penalizing processor performance. Based on a shared data architecture, the Database Utility provides the perfect platform for managing many SQL Server instances for greatly reduced planned and unplanned downtime. As a recent report by third-party research analysts Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) Lab confirmed, the PolyServe Database Utility assures high availability with seamless failover, automatically moving SQL Server instances from failed servers without application downtime. A Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, PolyServe works closely with Microsoft to ensure full support for the PolyServe solution.
