Ojo Personal Video Phones To Be Available in Latin America

Posted on: Tuesday, 11 July 2006, 09:00 CDT

Alta Vista Management, Inc. and WorldGate Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:WGAT) announced today that they have entered into a resale and supply agreement for WorldGate's Ojo(TM) Shadow personal video phone and the Ojo video phone service for Panama, Columbia and Costa Rica. The agreement provides for the companies to work together to initiate sales at the retail and wholesale levels.

"I have taken Ojo to a variety of potential customers in Panama and Latin America, who were impressed with Ojo's ease of use and high quality," says Ernest Viola, President of Alta Vista. "The retail and wholesale trade as well as government officials see Ojo as a way to move the communications revolution to be on a par with the most sophisticated countries around the world and ahead of many. The market in Latin America is ready for this new technology with its pervasive broadband networks."

Ojo is the first broadband video phone to feature a friendly and intuitive display that facilitates realistic, face-to-face personal communications experiences over DSL and cable broadband networks. The consumers will be able to connect their Ojo to the broadband network after registering their Ojo service to experience true-to-life video phone calls around the world.

"We are excited to see Ojo's expansion into Latin America where we believe the combination of broadband networks and the distribution expertise of Alta Vista will help to ensure Ojo's success," says Jim McLoughlin, Senior Vice President of WorldGate. "The exposure we expect in this important part of the world will lay a great foundation for further expansion in South America and Central America."

Alta Vista will begin distribution immediately with the first orders and deliveries expected in the coming weeks.
