MCI, Microsoft join forces for business communication solutions
LOS ANGELES, May 11 (Xinhua) -- MCI Inc. and Microsoft Corp. said on Tuesday that they will form a strategic partnership in jointly developing and marketing business communication solutions.
The first solution, Microsoft said, features MCI's next generation net conferencing service powered by Microsoft Office Live Meeting. Integrated with MCI audio conferencing, the service will be offered by MCI across the globe to small and medium-sized businesses.
According to Microsoft, the service will help information workers conduct real-time, interactive presentations over the Internet using a phone or PC, so they can meet, train, present and collaborate with virtually anyone around the globe without ever leaving their desks.
"This helps eliminate the costs and hassle associated with many types of business travel, while enhancing remote meeting outcomes through rich multimedia and interactive features," Microsoft said in a statement.
In addition, Microsoft, the world's largest software developer, and MCI, the world's largest provider of conferencing services, are establishing a relationship as preferred communication and collaboration partners, including Web conferencing services.
"Today's agreement between MCI and Microsoft advances our mutual goal of delivering the next generation of real-time communication and collaboration solutions to businesses worldwide, " said Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft.
He said MCI's voice and IP services combined with Microsoft Office Live Meeting and other collaboration products and services from Microsoft will help information workers improve their productivity.
