Formal Approval Ensures OneTouch Live Desktop and Live Classroom Meet Highest Performance Standards for Delivery Over DIRECWAY
OneTouch Systems(TM), whose interactive distance learning (IDL) solutions increase the capacity for organizations to train and communicate, today announced that it has received formal certification by Hughes Network Systems, Inc. (HNS), the world's leading provider of satellite broadband solutions, of OneTouch IDL solutions operating over HNS' DIRECWAY(R) satellite broadband service. This certification, awarded to OneTouch in the e-Learning category, is the latest joint milestone in a multi-year technology relationship between the two companies.
"Hughes Network Systems is our primary integration partner for delivering live, interactive distance learning solutions over broadband satellite networks," said Dennis Bertken, OneTouch president and CEO. "We have been operating IDL solutions over DIRECWAY for several years, and officially becoming DIRECWAY certified gives our customers an additional level of confidence regarding the performance of our solutions. It underscores our ongoing support for industry-standard platforms and services, and is another step towards empowering interactive distance learning on a wide variety of communications networks."
HNS certification was granted to OneTouch Live Desktop using the DW4010 and DW4020 satellite terminals. This demonstrates that OneTouch products meet the most stringent performance criteria when delivered over DIRECWAY.
VSAT (very small aperture terminal) is a communications technology that enables reliable two-way transmission of data via satellite using comparatively small antennas. HNS is the leading provider of these small, affordable dishes and currently supplies nearly 65 percent of the worldwide satellite network market with its DIRECWAY platforms and services.
"OneTouch is one of HNS' premier partners for satellite-based video delivery. Becoming DIRECWAY certified is an extension of the strength of that relationship," said Emil Regard, vice president of strategic marketing at Hughes Network Systems. "This certification means that OneTouch has met documented performance standards and that perspective customers have benchmark data even before they enter into a test phase."
HNS' DIRECWAY broadband satellite service, in conjunction with OneTouch IDL solutions, is a secure, efficient way to deliver consistent, visually rich training and educational content to vast numbers of remote students in diverse locations in a timely and cost-effective manner. Combining full-motion video, full-duplex audio and two-way data interaction, OneTouch Live Classroom and Live Desktop allow organizations to simultaneously reach employees in either a networked classroom using an interactive touchpad or at a desktop PC. Content is delivered from a single location and single server with the ability to capture sessions for on-demand replay at a later time.
