This week at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association's National Show, SeaChange International (Nasdaq: SEAC) demonstrates the revolutionary ON DEMAND service launched by Comcast in Philadelphia in late 2002. Offering more than 1,800 programming options, including movies, subscription video-on-demand and complementary programming from dozens of national television networks and local broadcasters, this is the model for the on-demand service that Comcast is rolling out to millions of customers across the country. ¶ SeaChange has provided Comcast, the country's leading cable and broadband communications provider, with the technology platform for its ON DEMAND service in its Atlantic and Eastern Divisions. Additionally, SeaChange is supporting launched services in Los Angeles; Portland, Ore; Seattle; and Stockton, Calif,; and upcoming deployments in Denver, Sacramento, and San Francisco. ¶"Comcast has enjoyed great success with its on-demand deployments and we're very proud to work with them," said Bill Styslinger, president & CEO, SeaChange. "The groundwork has been laid for tremendous growth in on-demand television. We look forward to helping Comcast expand its ON DEMAND service in these markets and other parts of the country."¶ SeaChange's VOD System - a comprehensive technology platform incorporating its patented MediaCluster servers, end-to-end automation software and real-time broadcast recording gear - enables broadband operators to easily enhance on-demand programming services. On-demand is changing television in dramatic ways, and SeaChange is supporting its customers with new ways to deliver programming -- and advertising -- that is more relevant to viewers. ¶ SeaChange drives the on-demand business with highly automated and fault-resilient digital video systems. Today, SeaChange VOD Systems provide approximately 1,000,000 on-demand streams in over 100 deployments, including 17 of the top 25 television markets, for North America's largest cable operators including Adelphia, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Communications, Insight, Mediacom, RCN, Rogers and Time Warner Cable.
