Posted on: Monday, 24 July 2006, 09:00 CDT

NetQoS(R) Inc. has hired Ed Tittel in the newly created position of director of training, where he is responsible for developing and maintaining the company's customer-oriented network performance management product and best practices training. The curriculum is focused on helping customers manage their networks for application performance.

"The NetQoS Performance Center product suite has become increasingly sophisticated to help network professionals meet the complex challenges of managing application performance across the WAN. As a result, our training courses and materials must continually evolve to meet the needs of our growing customer base," said Robert Machnacki, NetQoS vice president of services. "As an accomplished and prolific writer of technical articles and training materials, Ed is an outstanding addition to the NetQoS services organization. Under his direction, NetQoS will continue to offer relevant, high-quality network performance management training products."

Working with the NetQoS services, product management, sales, and support organizations, Tittel will ensure that customers receive the training needed to obtain the most value out of their NetQoS products and as a result improve network performance management for their organizations. In addition to updating and developing full-fledged instructor and student manuals, Tittel is creating a follow-on set of advanced product courseware to complement current introductory offerings. Details on the offerings are available at http://www.netqos.com/services/network_performance_management.html

"I'm very pleased to have such a great opportunity to lead the NetQoS product training program, which not only focuses on features and capabilities, but also on the evolving role of the network manager as a critical driver of application performance," said Tittel.

Tittel is a long-time computer and networking industry professional who has been active as a writer and trainer since the late 1980s. He is the author of more than 140 computing-related books across a range of topics that include markup languages, information security, and numerous IT certifications, plus several thousand magazine and Web articles. He also serves as technology editor for Certification Magazine, and is a regular contributor to numerous Tom's Hardware and TechTarget Web sites.

Among the educational materials Tittel has built and co-authored are college textbooks for Course Technology, including titles on networking essentials (now in its fourth edition) and TCP/IP (written with lead author Laura Chappell; a third edition is expected in late 2006). In addition, Tittel created the Exam Cram series of IT certification preparation guides, published by Que Certification (part of Pearson Publishing). Tittel also served as series editor for Exam Cram and its training guide series from 1997 through the end of 2005.

In 2004, Tittel received the Best Networking Professional Career Achievement Award from the Network Professional Association (NPA), and is a four-time finalist for "Favorite Study Guide Author" in the CertCities.com Annual Readers' Choice Awards (started in 2002).
