American Fiber Systems Completes Strategic Metropolitan Fiber Optic Network Expansion; Expansion in Salt Lake City Includes Additional On-Net Buildings
Posted on: Monday, 24 July 2006, 18:00 CDT
American Fiber Systems (AFS), the leading provider of data networks to carriers and large enterprises, announced today a successful completion of its Salt Lake City Fiber Optic Metro Network expansion. This enhancement is an important step in accelerating the growth of AFS's diverse network, which is increasingly seen as the primary alternative for reliable and innovative networks. The addition of two carrier hotels and two carrier POP's increases the AFS competitive edge within the Salt Lake City metro market.
The expansion in Salt Lake City will significantly impact on-net buildings growth in the high-density business district, airport and core downtown. Customers in the AFS On-Net Buildings Program benefit from considerable advantages including standard pricing terms for DS-3, OC-N, Ethernet services and committed installation intervals with fiber optic connectivity into each building.
"Since our founding, AFS has always designed and built its metropolitan fiber optic network footprint with our customers needs in mind first. With growth emphasis on converged applications via IP packets by our customers, we are a reliable alternative to Qwest Communications directly or in load balancing of IP traffic which requires at least two distinct fiber cable transport paths for redundancy," said Dave Rusin, President & CEO of AFS.
In the last year, American Fiber Systems has dramatically increased the coverage and capacity of its metro networks by strategically investing in network expansion and improvements in Cleveland, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Nashville, Atlanta and Salt Lake City markets, resulting in significant operational and sales growth.
