DEARBORN, Mich., (RP Conference, Booth #430), May 10
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sony Precision Technology America, Inc. (SPTA) will add a small build platform system to its line-up of Solid Creation Systems for advanced stereolithography.
The new SCS-6000 model utilizes solid-state laser to provide 200mW of power on vat with a maximum mold build size of 12"x12"x10". The system is designed for applications that demand quick turnaround time, high prototype accuracy, manufacturing efficiency and flexibility.
"This new model adds a small build platform system to our stereolithography product lineup and is best suited for smaller build parts, for a detailed yet smooth finish with a fast resin cure time," said Koh Nakata, vice president of sales and marketing for Sony Manufacturing Systems America, a division of SPTA. "Since we introduced our Solid Creation Systems in the North America market last year, we continue to make technological developments to meet the needs of our customers. The SCS-6000 focuses on part accuracy, quality and speed."
Sony's technology advancement on laser, recoating and leveling systems is seen on all of its Solid Creation Systems, including the SCS-9000D model -- the largest model platform available in the world (39.3"x 31.4"x19.6") with Dual Beam(TM) scanning technology, which reduces build time. The standard-size SCS-8000 provides high-speed modeling and also comes with a Dual Beam(TM) option (SCS-8000D). The current product mix includes three models with up to four configurations for maximum flexibility.
About Stereolithography
Stereolithography is the process used to convert three-dimensional CAD design images into solid objects. With Sony's Solid Creation System, a CAD designed 3-D model is divided into many thin cross-sectional slices and converted to contour data. An ultraviolet laser employs the contour data as a basis for scanning the surface of UV-curable resin contained in the tank, and a cross-sectioned form is drawn. The laser-scanned surfaces are hardened, and cross-section layers are formed on an elevator, which descends a layer at a time until a 3-D solid model is completed.
