"This offering allows the Department of Information Resources to continue bringing quality services to state and local governmental entities and ensures taxpayers get the best value for their dollars," said Mel Mireles, Director of Enterprise Operations for the State of Texas.
In 2000, the State of Texas contracted with Sprint to conduct a network security assessment of state agencies. The comprehensive assessment identified aspects of strong security and areas with vulnerability issues as well as a plan of action to enhance security overall.
"Utilizing best-of-breed security services through a single provider such as Sprint minimizes the complexity of doing business with several vendors for each agency," said Cathy Bryant, vice president of business development and state government, Sprint Government Systems Division. "As we've worked closely with them over the last few years to assess the state agency's network security across the various agencies, we've gained a clear understanding of their needs which allows us to ensure quick and smooth implementation so they can enhance protection of critical data immediately."
Sprint Government Systems Division ( http://www.sprint.com/gsd ) is based in Herndon, Va., and offers the full range of Sprint product and service offerings for federal- and state-government customers. Sprint is the only carrier offering government agencies a Peerless IP solution, unsurpassed in network security because it's entirely private, with no connectivity to the public Internet.
