Attorney General John D. Ashcroft Joins Dulles Research Advisory Board in Equity Transaction

Posted on: Thursday, 27 July 2006, 15:00 CDT

Dulles Research LLC announced today that former U.S. Attorney General John D. Ashcroft has joined the Dulles Research Advisory Board.

In June 2006 The Ashcroft Group, LLC acquired an equity position in Dulles Research. Terms were not disclosed.

"Many organizations trumpet their capacity to bring new technologies to market to secure our country, and those of our allies. Dulles Research is a leading innovator in the threat detection space. The company has developed a powerfully effective analytic tool to safeguard a range of vulnerable arenas from transportation to financial transactions," Attorney General Ashcroft said.

"We're honored that Attorney General Ashcroft, and his team at The Ashcroft Group, LLC, have chosen to partner with us in the development of Dulles Research," Drew Eginton, founder and CEO of Dulles Research said. "We believe that this decision further validates the groundbreaking research and development we have undertaken."

Dulles Research is the emerging leader in the supply of critical network analysis technology. Through its proprietary software system, branded the Lucid Threat Management System(TM), the company is developing a system to identify, project dynamically, and optimally eliminate or manipulate illicit networks. These networks may be people, or objects (such as containers moving through the global shipping system). Applications include counter-terrorism, homeland security, and law enforcement.

Properly applied, and assuming integrated intelligence data structures, Lucid Identify(TM) is able to detect such networks as the 9/11 hijackers and the recent "Toronto 17". Sixteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers were identified in U.S. government databases, but their interactions were unknown.

"Estimates today project that over 30% of global GDP may reside in the gray and black markets. They're unpoliced, often illegal, and represent a threat in every population center and marketplace. So even beyond the obvious applications in the intelligence community, we believe that Lucid offers a long-term strategic roadmap to help corporations, governments, and law enforcement respond to changing threat assessments," said David Ayres CEO of The Ashcroft Group.

Other members of the Dulles Research advisory board include John F. Burke, a partner with True Venture Partners LLC, and James P. Rutt, the former CEO of Network Solutions, CTO of The Thomson Corporation, and presently the vice chairman of The Santa Fe Institute.

The first module of the Lucid Threat Management System(TM) will ship in Q3 2006. Named Lucid Identify(TM), it transcends the manual "link analysis" methods in common use today to detect illicit behavior. Lucid Identify(TM) statistically solves for, and reveals, previously unknown and unidentified relationships between bad actors. It does not depend on a "starting point" - a previously known member of a network - in order to detect them.

Further, Lucid Identify(TM) sustains privacy protections by evaluating the actual behavior of these networks, rather than the attributes of individuals suspected of being party to them, as is the case with so-called "data mining" techniques. This means that advanced anonymization techniques may be deployed, prior to law enforcement intervention, thus safeguarding privacy while suppressing the incidence of so-called "false positives."
