T-Systems Chooses PRIMERGY BladeFrame Powered By Egenera for B2B Services Platform
Posted on: Monday, 31 July 2006, 12:00 CDT
Egenera, Inc. today announced that T-Systems has chosen Fujitsu Siemens Computers' PRIMERGY BladeFrame(R) powered by Egenera for its e-Service Area platform. T-Systems customers utilize the e-Service platform for e-mail, e-shops, Internet portals and data warehouse applications. PRIMERGY BladeFrame supports the B2B services platform with flexible IT resources that adapt themselves dynamically to changing requirements. As a result, T-Systems can provide its customers with the fast, flexible, reliable and affordable services operated on Internet and intranet servers as well as corresponding server-based applications. In addition, T-Systems customers can now take advantage of on-demand services in their intranets.
e-Service Area Based on PRIMERGY BladeFrame
T-Systems chose the enterprise server solution from Fujitsu Siemens Computers based on the PRIMERGY BladeFrame system's ability to fulfill the requirements for short-term cost reduction while taking another step forward in achieving the company's long-term strategic vision of a flexible and responsive datacenter infrastructure. The flexible T-Systems IP transport platform is combined with cost-effective infrastructure, hosting and application solutions from individual datacenters in the e-Service Area. The BladeFrame technology and the MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) network connection also help to reduce costs.
"PRIMERGY BladeFrame helps us to provide our customers with e-Service Area services in a quick, reliable and fail-safe fashion. For many of the enterprises we serve, the improved service quality and more efficient IT are decisive criteria in selecting e-Service Area services. Of course, cost savings also play an important role. So far, customers have been able to save up to 30 percent of costs over their own operations. At the same time, they benefit from a highly-available solution instead of a single server and can also, within a matter of minutes, utilize an additional server for business intelligence applications or for intranet or Internet services," explains Ulrich Kemp, responsible for handling business with major and medium-sized enterprises at T-Systems.
Cross-application Server Virtualization
As part of an exclusive, strategic OEM arrangement with Egenera, Fujitsu Siemens Computers integrated the Egenera BladeFrame system into the PRIMERGY server product line. As a result, the company enables its customers to increase not only the productivity of their IT infrastructures, but also the flexibility and economic efficiency of the dynamic datacenter.
