RAD Introduces Low-Cost Product Suite for T1/E1 Services Over Metro Ethernet and MPLS Networks

Posted on: Tuesday, 25 May 2004, 06:00 CDT

Service Providers Can Now Deliver Revenue-Generating T1/E1 Services For Less than $1,000 per Link over Efficient Ethernet/MPLS Networks

RAD Data Communications has announced new, low-cost versions of its popular T1/E1 Circuit Emulation solutions that enable Service Providers to deliver TDM-based legacy services across a converged Ethernet/MPLS network.

Based on RAD's patented TDMoIP(R) technology, the new IPmux(TM) family is aggressively priced so that the cost for Service Providers to deliver T1/E1 services is less than $1,000 per link, driving rapid ROI.

RAD's TDMoIP technology has gained widespread acceptance since its introduction almost five years ago. As implemented in the IPmux(TM) and Vmux(TM) product lines, over 20,000 ports of TDMoIP have been installed for end-users and service providers worldwide.

"TDMoIP is very successful because it provides a simple way to support circuit-based services such as T1 or E1 across Ethernet, MPLS and IP networks," said Eitan Schwartz, VP and General Manager of TDMoIP Solutions at RAD Data Communications, Inc. "Next-Generation service providers can increase revenue and profit significantly by addressing the needs of the lucrative T1/E1 leased line market," he continued.

IPmux Family

RAD's new IPmux-11 and IPmux-14 products provide industry-leading price-performance, especially when deployed in conjunction with the IPmux-16 featuring new channelized T3 capabilities. The IPmux-11 accepts single T1 or E1 input along with dual user Ethernet feeds with traffic management capabilities such as rate limiting, prioritization, etc. These inputs are transported over copper or fiber Ethernet uplinks. The IPmux-14 has the same capabilities as the IPmux-11, but can accept up to four T1 or E1 inputs. Both products support VLAN stacking, WEB and SNMP-based management and a broad range of clocking options. The IPmux-11 and IPmux-14, at list prices of $900 and $2,400 respectively, offer a very attractive ROI for Service Providers.

Metropolitan Ethernet Forum

As a member of the Metropolitan Ethernet Forum, RAD will participate in the MEF's "SUPERDemo" at Supercomm in Chicago from June 21-24. RAD will demonstrate its Circuit Emulation Services (CES) over Ethernet access networks capabilities, as well as its TDMoIP technology.
