TFS Technology Releases TFS Secure Messaging Server 5.1 As a Free License for Up to 250 Users

Posted on: Tuesday, 25 May 2004, 06:00 CDT

UPPSALA, Sweden and HERNDON, Va., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- TFS Technology (TFS), a breakthrough provider of Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, announces the release of version 5.1 of its award-winning email security software, TFS Secure Messaging Server, as a freeware license for up to 250 users.

TFS Secure Messaging Server is a server-based email security and management solution for Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, and Novell GroupWise, as well as any other SMTP-based email system. Designed as an integral add-on for LAN-based mail systems, TFS Secure Messaging Server is transparent to the end user, policy-based, and provides a comprehensive encryption security, content filtering, and gateway connectivity solution for an organization's email system. The product's central administration of digital certificates makes it possible to protect an organization's users from spam and viruses by allowing easy implementation of email "white lists."

"The freeware release of TFS SM-S 5.1 will enable smaller organizations to adopt the many secure messaging features and capabilities that larger organizations rely upon daily to secure their email systems, all without having to make an additional financial investment in technology," said Krister Fransson, Chief Executive Officer of TFS Technology. "With our industry experience and award-winning technology, we know that we can offer a very comprehensive solution to any organization with a variety of secure messaging needs."

The freeware product has no limitations on the time it can be used -- there is no limiting "free trial period." Freeware users can choose to purchase an annual support subscription, which also provides access to future product updates and enhancements, as well as a free email traffic analysis tool, TFS MailReport.

"Everyone is a winner when they get their hands on our proven technology for encrypting and signing their email. Companies that already have the possibility to encrypt and sign email now have the opportunity to handle "the other side" by immediately providing their external communication partners a free solution to ensure secure email communication between the parties," continued Krister Fransson.

As future development of new building blocks for the TFS EmailControl solution continues, TFS will add support for Linux and Unix, using the same proven technology that is used in other TFS solutions.

TFS EmailControl will make it possible for small companies, as well as large enterprises with more complex email security needs, to communicate securely with server-based encryption transparency (which also enables central content and virus scanning).

"By giving away this valuable software for free, organizations can experience the well-known Metcalf law, which states 'as the number of users doubled, the value of the network was quadrupled," said Krister Fransson.
