LightSurf Technologies, Inc. the global leader in open standards multimedia messaging and interoperability solutions, and Telecom New Zealand, announced today that Telecom has selected LightSurf PictureMail to bring innovative, easy and exciting multimedia messaging services to the company’s New Zealand customers. Telecom is using LightSurf’s PictureMail service to extend its photo messaging offering. The popular Sanyo 8100 camera phone, with its Online Photo Gallery for storing and customizing photos, was launched by Telecom on May 17.

Telecom Mobile General Manager Kevin Kenrick said LightSurf’s PictureMail is unique to Telecom in New Zealand and brings a new dimension to photo messaging. “Our customers now have the ability to store, manage and manipulate photos from their mobile phones or their PCs, using a personal Online Photo Gallery at xtra.co.nz. LightSurf is focused on providing the best multimedia messaging experience available which means we are now able to take photo messaging to new levels.”

Telecom New Zealand is using LightSurf PictureMail to enable customers to capture and share everyday moments instantly with their camera phones. The PictureMail service extends Telecom’s existing multimedia messaging services (MMS), enabling Sanyo 8100 users to exchange memories with family and friends, and to store and manage photos from their mobile phones or PCs, using the Online Photo Gallery.

Telecom New Zealand is the latest company to deploy LightSurf’s award-winning PictureMail service, which is built entirely on the LightSurf Open Standards Multimedia Messaging Platform, a suite of standards-based, carrier-grade services that are the foundation of LightSurf Solutions. PictureMail provides a complete end-to-end multimedia messaging service, hosted and managed by LightSurf, that combines a robust Web interface with enhanced device features and server-driven media and message storage, management, and sharing.

“LightSurf is pleased to launch new MMS services with Telecom New Zealand,” said Philippe Kahn, CEO of LightSurf Technologies, Inc. “Telecom New Zealand’s customers can now experience instant visual communications, using photo messaging based on LightSurf’s widely deployed open standards MMS platform.”
