PALO ALTO, Calif., May 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Vyyo Inc. , a global supplier of broadband end-to-end solutions for telephony and high-speed data connections, announced that China Telecom has begun to deploy Vyyo’s solutions throughout the Hebei province. Datang Mobile (Datang) served as the system integrator. The Hebei province has an area of 190,000 square kilometers and a population of over 67 million people.

“China Telecom is the largest telecom operator in China, and this deployment solidifies our position as a leader in the Chinese wireless broadband market,” stated Michael Corwin, president and chief operating officer of Vyyo. “China Telecom was one of the largest winners of 3.5 GHz frequency during the third and final phase of MII grants. In this phase, operators were granted frequency on a province-wide basis, rather than on a city-by-city basis. We believe that China Telecom’s deployment of our solutions in Hebei is just the beginning of a successful relationship with them.”

“We have seen increased activity in the Chinese market after the last phase of grants,” continued Corwin. “We are pleased to be selected by China Telecom and continue to work with the other winning operators who have deployed our solutions in the past — China Netcom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Railcom. Vyyo will strive to continue to utilize our local presence and unique dual-bus chassis to expand our market share in China.”

“We were pleased to assist in the provincial-wide deployment of Vyyo solutions in Hebei,” stated Mr. Sun Yuwang, general manager of Shanghai Datang Mobile Communications Equipment. “Going forward, we plan to continue to work with China Telecom and other operators to capture other opportunities for Vyyo’s quality solutions.”
