Posted on: Wednesday, 2 August 2006, 09:00 CDT
GraniteEdge Networks today announced the appointment of Jennifer Steffens as director of product management. Steffens brings significant security industry experience to GraniteEdge Networks and a solid reputation within the network security community. As director of product management, Steffens will be responsible for driving product strategy and execution in support of the company's goal to become the new standard for securing enterprises' most valued assets.
"Jennifer has long-standing ties into the end-user security community and possesses great insight into enterprise security needs," said Steve O'Brian, vice president of marketing for GraniteEdge Networks. "This experience, combined with her product management know-how with emerging technologies, will play an instrumental role in keeping GraniteEdge on the forefront of technology innovation that addresses real customer needs."
"Companies are faced with a daunting challenge -- no matter how much money they spend on their security infrastructure, intrusions are going to occur," said Steffens. "Increasingly organizations require threat response capabilities beyond what is provided in traditional detection-focused solutions. I believe GraniteEdge Networks' approach of reducing security risk by minimizing threat response time is spot on with the needs of today's enterprises and government agencies."
Most recently Steffens was director of product management for Sourcefire, Inc., managing Snort(R), the open source technology that has become the de facto standard for intrusion detection and prevention, managing all product marketing and product management initiatives. Prior to Sourcefire, Steffens served as senior product manager for NFR Security where she developed and executed a global marketing plan that helped double corporate revenue in one year. Before joining NFR Security, Steffens served as the senior marketing manager for Ubizen, a Cybertrust Holdings company.
Steffens holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mary Washington University.
