Net Optics Introduces the iMatrix Switch With Remote Management Capabilities; Remote Switching of Monitoring Devices Simplifies Network Management
Posted on: Friday, 4 August 2006, 09:00 CDT
Net Optics, the global leader in passive monitoring access for network security and monitoring, announced its new iMatrix Switch for both Span and in-line applications. The software-controlled physical layer connections through the iMatrix Switch eliminate the need to reconnect and reconfigure analyzers for each new monitoring task. The iMatrix Switch features remote interfaces that provide control and status information from anywhere in the network. Change which Span ports or network links are monitored with a click of your mouse. This flexibility instantly improves ease of use and return on investment. Available in both 10/100/100BaseT and Gigabit fiber, the iMatrix Switch connects two or four monitoring devices to as many as 96 Span ports or 48 in-line network links.
The remote interfaces, iMatrix Switch Web Manager and System Manager, provide simple control of individual iMatrix Switches or all the iMatrix Switches in the network. The Web Manager is a browser-based interface accessible from any PC with a browser and access to the iMatrix Switch's IP address. Web Manager allows you to change settings, view status, and change port connections for an iMatrix Switch from a single page. Net Optics System Manager is an SNMP management tool that offers central management of all Net Optics iMatrix Switches in the network. You can organize iMatrix Switches into groups according to workgroup, location, or any other criteria. Changing port connections on any iMatrix Switch in the system is simple with a few mouse clicks in a single interface. Once you have configured the iMatrix Switch and set the desired connections, you can disable the remote interfaces from the RS232 command line interface (CLI). iMatrix Switch's System Manager gives network managers a place to update other users sharing monitoring resources connected to iMatrix Switches. iMatrix Switches can be fully accessed with third-party SNMP management tools after loading Net Optics Management Information Base (MIB) file.
"The iMatrix Switch provides network managers with an efficient way to view up to 96 Span ports or 48 in-line network links. As networks grow, using the iMatrix Switch provides visibility into the health of a network while providing the flexibility of multiple access and control options," said Bob Shaw, CEO of Net Optics. "This is just one of many products to come as we aggressively move forward with our successful family of intelligent products."
