EATONTOWN, NJ - York Telecom Corporation (privately held), a recognized expert in complex visual communication solutions and services, today officially announced the creation of its Media Services division. York Media Services will provide a full range of pre- and post-production audio and video media services leveraging York Telecom’s years of experience with the global distribution of media assets via satellite, Internet streaming media and videoconferencing to help customers more effectively produce and disseminate information.

For nearly two decades, York Telecom has enabled organizations to optimize their internal and external corporate communications, training and marketing efforts through the effective use of visual communications technologies, including videoconferencing, satellite communications, Internet streaming media and distance learning. The addition of York Media Services allows the company to better assist with content creation, production and post-production, offering a complete turn-key suite of media services from initial concept development through production and distribution of the completed programming.

“With York Telecom’s long history of excellence in the videoconferencing industry, this was a natural next step,” said Ron Gaboury, President of York Telecom. Gaboury adds, “The management team behind York Media Services’ success includes executives from the broadcast and streaming media industries, including such companies as Akamai Technologies, Digital Island, Inktomi, Intervu and Videolinx Communications.”

“The industry experience and expertise of the York Media Services team brings a credibility and integrity that has already attracted customers of the caliber of AT&T, Practicing Law Institute, Voice of America, University for Atmospheric Research and the United Service Organizations (USO), to name just a few,” said Ken Scaturro, York Telecom Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

York Telecom’s 17-year history of success as a visual communications leader with its broad range of products and services distinguishes it from the many companies offering only streaming video services in a growing but increasingly competitive industry.

Eric Rhoads, Publisher of Streaming Magazine, notes, “With the proliferation of broadband, there is increasing demand for streaming audio and video. An Arbitron study last year found that over 80 million Americans have watched or listened to streaming media online.” Rhoads adds, “With the industry experience of its management team and technical expertise of its staff, York Telecom promises to be a company to watch in 2003.”
