BEDMINSTER, N.J., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T today said it has appointed Kathleen R. Flaherty Chief Marketing Officer of the unit that serves business customers in the United States and globally.
Flaherty will head a new organization that consolidates all AT&T business marketing functions -- product, price, promotion and placement -- into a single group focused on delivering higher-value services, applications and solutions to AT&T's domestic and multinational business. Flaherty, who most recently served as the president and chief operating officer of Winstar International, will report to AT&T President William Hannigan.
Today's announcement is the latest in a series of moves by AT&T as it continues to reaffirm its position as a networking leader committed to delivering high-value, integrated services, solutions and applications for business customers and consumers.
Flaherty will initially concentrate on focusing and evolving AT&T's leading product portfolio to help deliver business solutions to companies that, across the board, are evolving their networks to deliver IP-based services and applications to their own customers, suppliers, employees and partners.
"I'm delighted that Kathleen has agreed to join AT&T during a period when the company is literally transforming itself," said Hannigan. "Her deep global telecom experience and marketing skills are perfectly matched to our desire to ensure all our market-facing efforts are effectively leveraging the power of the AT&T brand, resources and technology to meet our business customers' needs."
Prior to Winstar, Flaherty was a 17-year MCI veteran, holding several senior executive positions supporting worldwide sales and marketing, network engineering and financial operations. Before that, she was head of sales and marketing for Concert during the period when it operated as the global joint venture of MCI and British Telecom. She also spent two years in London as head of business marketing for BT's United Kingdom market.
Flaherty graduated from Northwestern University with Masters and Doctorate degrees in Industrial Engineering. She has served on the Board of Directors of CMS Energy and Consumers Energy of Michigan, Marconi Corp., plc, and GenTek, Inc., and is a member of the Industry Advisory Council for the McCormick School of Engineering, Northwestern University.
