August 11, 2006
Alltel Wireless customers will soon be able to receive XM Satellite Radio service through their cell phones as part of a deal between the two U.S. companies.
FMQB.com reported that the agreement will make Alltel the first U.S. provider to offer the service, which will provide its customers access to 20 XM channels at the cost of $7.99 a month.
As consumers continue to turn their wireless phones into mobile entertainment hubs, Alltel Wireless continues to explore partnerships to build on our extensive portfolio of content, Alltel executive Frank O’Mara said.
The service, which was developed by MobiTV, will allow customers to choose from a wide assortment of available musical genres, FMQB.com said.
