Samsung Mobile Enterprise Solutions Group and MP2 Announce Mobile Point of Sale Solution
Posted on: Tuesday, 1 June 2004, 06:00 CDT
DALLAS, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung Telecommunications America, the third largest manufacturer of wireless handsets in the U.S., and MP2 Solutions, a premier provider of enterprise mobility solutions, today announced the first point of sale solution for a Windows Mobile(TM) device. Businesses are now able to completely manage field sales using Samsung's Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile(TM)-based SPH-i700 Pocket PC Phone powered by MP2 Solutions.
This collaboration makes the i700 a powerful all-in-one business solution for mobile sales forces, enabling sales professionals to perform secure credit card transactions, capture digital signatures and print receipts from the field. The MP2 application platform also offers asset tracking, field surveys, inventory management and delivery confirmation, all of which are integrated with robust reporting engines and tools. MP2 will seamlessly aggregate all handheld transaction information and combine it with existing back office system data to produce end-to-end company reports. The entire MP2 product suite accomplishes all of this while maintaining the full functionality of a wireless phone and PDA.
The MP2 solution is available with two equipment options for point of sale and field force automation functionality. The first option, a Semtek magnetic stripe reader attached to the i700, is Bluetooth(R)-enabled via Socket Communications' SDIO Connection Kit and utilizes a wireless Brother(R) micro printer. The second option is an all in one MP2 PDA cradle that has both the magnetic stripe reader and printer on the same device.
"With this solution Samsung is helping mobile sales professionals exceed their goals and maximize productivity," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of Samsung's wireless terminals division. "This comprehensive solution gives mobile professionals a powerful resource to help them be more successful."
Todd J. Carey, chief executive officer of MP2 added, "the Samsung and MP2 solution is driven by the enterprise demand for sales forces to have equipment, software and reporting that can increase their top line revenue while decreasing costs."
With mobile commerce revenues reaching upwards of $58.4 billion by 2007*, there is a high demand for mobility solutions that increase productivity in the field. Enterprises such as delivery-based companies that collect payment offsite, home-based sales companies that sell products in consumer's homes, and companies that provide offsite repairs and service are driving demand for solutions offered by MP2.
