To meet the needs of an estimated 18 million consumers who search the web for funeral homes each year, FuneralHomes.com announced the launch of its site today, the largest online directory of funeral homes in the U.S.
"Just like other products, our research indicates that the number of consumers who turn to the web for information about funeral homes is increasing every month," reports Darren Cleveland, president of FuneralHomes.com.
With the average cost of a funeral now in excess of $6,000, according to the Federal Trade Commission, Cleveland said consumers are searching the web to find the right funeral homes that meets their needs.
Based in Delray Beach, Fla., FuneralHomes.com offers a database of nearly 20,000 funeral homes in hundreds of cities in all 50 states. Consumers can review featured funeral homes with full descriptions and links to their web sites, including phone numbers and addresses.
In addition, the site provides articles on funeral costs, pre-planning, religious preferences, grieving and other information on arranging a service. The lead article on FuneralHomes.com covers "Important Items To Know When Arranging A Funeral" and was written by a former funeral home director who now serves as an advisor to the site.
"We are offering consumers a one-stop directory where they can search for information on funeral homes and also find helpful advice in this time of need," Cleveland said. "Our goal is to better educate consumers to help ease the burden of their grieving experience."
