Forming a Strategic Alliance with Dedalus Systems, a Sun Microsystems Partner Who Will Represent IBM in the Brazilian Market
Rick Kearney, President and CEO of Mainline Information Systems, announced the formation of Mainline Brazil and a strategic alliance with Dedalus Systems, the top Sun Microsystems partner in Brazil. The Mainline and Dedalus partnership will expand the marketing of IBM products and services by leveraging the resources of Mainline Information Systems, IBM's leading business partner.
After operating for 11 years in Brazil, exclusively marketing Sun Microsystems products, Dedalus Systems announced today the rescission of their partnership with Sun, and will only market IBM products and services in Brazil. To reach speed to market, Dedalus will count on the support of the newly formed Brazilian subsidiary of Mainline Information Systems. Mainline will leverage its success in the U.S. to assist and train the staff of Dedalus on IBM products and services.
Kearney stated from the launch in Sao Paulo, "Dedalus brings to IBM excellent skills and resources that will allow IBM to expand their SMB presence in the Brazilian marketplace. Mainline will leverage its experience to increase the success and reduce the lead time to market for this new alliance."
According to Mauricio Fernandes, President of Dedalus, the decision to change from Sun is a necessity for Dedalus to support their clients and the requirements of the market. Customers today are making business decisions not only on purchase price but also on competence of an experienced team who can support complex technology environments.
"Customers want a guarantee of high availability, performance and security for their technological infrastructure," said Fernandes. "They want assurance that the use of methodologies are in place to assist them with control of their operating environment and total cost of ownership. And for this, it is necessary to make use of a portfolio that offers a complete solution to meet the customers' requirements - that is something only IBM offers."
For IBM, the Mainline/Dedalus alliance means significant expansion in the Brazilian small and medium business marketplace. Rogerio Oliveira, President of IBM Brazil, has established a network of select partners with the expertise and experience needed to increase IBM Brazil's presence within the SMB market.
"The agreement with Dedalus," states Oliveira, "will help make this goal a reality. With this partnership, we are expanding our performance in Brazil through a recognized and successful systems integrator."
For Mainline Information Systems, an IBM Premier Business Partner since 1989, the participation in the Dedalus/IBM partnership is their chance to access an emerging market. "This is an excellent opportunity for us to share our experience and work with a systems integrator that is already established in the market," states Kearney.
Dedalus will continue to serve its existing customer base with the excellent service that is synonymous with its name. However, Dedalus is expanding its offerings with IBM hardware, software, and services. "This partnership will extend our portfolio offerings," said Fernandes, "allowing more comprehensive solutions via the IBM/Mainline partnership."
